Can you imagine building links with multiple sites and found that ALL of them are worthless? What will you do after that? I can guarantee that 80% of you will give up on link building after that… 50% will give up on SEO… and 30% will give up Internet Marketing altogether. This may not be about money but the time and effort that you have put in for maybe the past 1 year. But if you are paying your links with money (which I don’t recommend), then please read through this checklist before putting a penny down.

  1. Make sure the link used are in HTML (<A HREF> coding). Links that are in javascript-based are worthless. You can do a view source on that page to see their links scripting.
  2. Make sure the rel=NOFOLLOW attribute is not used or else Google will not follow the link.
  3. Check the PageRank of the page that your link will be on. This must be the exact page. PageRank is based on page and not the whole site.
  4. Check the Alexa Traffic Rating. Though the rating can be easily manipulated, it is still worth the check.
  5. Make sure your Anchor Text can be used for the links as it will be essentially your most important keywords.
  6. Last but the least, make sure the page that your link is situated is indexed by Google.

I sincerely hope that you don’t give up on link building as it is one of the most important aspect in Search Engine Optimization and of course it requires a lot of hard work. All the best!
