You sure you’re in a PR site?

Most often than not, we hear people saying that they have a site with some Page Rank and invite you to put your link there in exchange for something. But are you sure your link is in that PR ready ‘page’?

Think about it and ask questions. I’ve seen many and most of it are advertising their sub-page with zero PR and the PR that they are talking about is their main page. Unless you are linked to their main page, you can forget about linking with them. By putting your link at the sub-page will also cause trouble for you. You may be haul up by Google or other search engines for participating in a link farm. The search engines hate link farms and they will have no hesitation in banning your site.

So why are the advertiser still doing that? One thing for sure is that they want to build up the page rank for that particular page. They may request for a reciprocal link exchange (even though reciprocal link is not worth much nowadays), and have inbound links linking to that page and that is where the page rank will be built up.

I’m not saying all are bad but please take notice before participating in it.

Hi, while I agree that most people bragging on their PR for advertising purposes do reference the pr of their home page and the link is often to a post with little or no PR of it’s own, for many reasons, it is unlikely in the extreme that it will cause any harm with google.
